A new bachelor student!

Matthias Rainer Scheppach joined the team in November 2020. He will help in the production of FAHD1 overexpression vectors to be used in cell culture experiments.

Welcome and good luck!

2020

Preis der Landeshauptstadt Innsbruck 2020!

Alexander Weiss was awarded with the Prize of the state capital Innsbruck for scientific research 2020.

Congratulations!

Lange Nacht der Forschung 2020!

We contributed to the Long night of research 2020. Find the video at "Was macht man eigentlich in der Biomedizinsichen Alternsforschung?".

Enjoy!

Interviewed by Makademia.at!

Makademia.at asked us for an interview. Find the text at "Das ewige Leben... oder auch nicht".

Thank you for your interest in our work!

A new bachelor student!

Eva Wagner joined the team in September 2020. She will extract FAHD1 protein from swine kidney using a set of proteomic approaches including fast protein liquid chromatography (FPLC). Using purified FAHD1 protein she will study the effect of selected molecules and ions on the catalytic activity of the enzyme.

Welcome and good luck!

A new master student!

Anna Simonini joined the team in February 2020 when she worked on a project study to investigate the untranslated 5' region upstream of the human FAHD1 promoter region on chromosome 16. She studied transcription factors in this region and performed pilot studies on how this bi-directional promoter region may be regulated under normoxic and hypoxic conditions in U2OS cells. She will continue these experiments in the course of her masters thesis starting August 2020 and also study the overexpression of human FAHD1 on the background of endogeneous FAHD1 depleted cancer cells.

Welcome and good luck!

A new bachelor student!

Andreas Andric joined the team in Juli 2020. He will establish a protocol to extract FAHD1 protein from swine kidney using a set of proteomic approaches including fast protein liquid chromatography (FPLC). Using purified FAHD1 protein he will perform pilot experiments to study the catalytic activity of the enzyme, compared to recombinant enzyme obtained via expression in competent bacteria.

Welcome and good luck!

2019

A highlight in 2019!

Our video supported article Expression, Purification, Crystallization, and Enzyme Assays of Fumarylacetoacetate Hydrolase Domain-Containing Proteins was recently published by the Journal of Visualized Experiments (JoVE) with more than 5500 clicks in the first year! We will incorporate it as educational material in our lectures and are eager to continue this work in the future.

Great work by all people involved, and a big Thank You for all your support!
